Walnut and Chocolate Brownies Recipe

Ingredients: Makes 12

50g/2 oz plain (semi-sweet) chocolate
75 g/3 oz butter or margarine

225 g/8 oz caster (superfine) sugar
75 g/3 oz plain (all-purpose) flour
75 g/3 oz walnuts, choppep

50g/2 oz chocolate chips

2 eggs, beaten
2.5 ml vanilla essence (extract)

Method:

Melt the chocolate and butter or margarine in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water. Remove from the heat and stir in the remaining ingredients. Spoon into a greased and lined 20 cm/8 in cake tin (pan) and bake in a preheated oven at 180C/350F/gas mark 4 for 30 minutes until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean. Leave to cool in the tin, then cut into squares.
