Chocolate Fudge Brownies Recipe

Ingredients: Makes about 16

225 g/8 oz butter or margarine

175 g/6 oz granulated sugar

350g/12 oz self-raising (self-rising) flour
30 ml/2 tbsp cocoa (unsweetened chocolate) powder
For the icing (frosting):
175 g/6 oz/1 cup icing (confectioners') sugar, sifted
30 ml/2 tbsp cocoa (unsweetened chocolate) powder
Boiling water

Method:

Melt the butter or margarine, then stir in the granulated sugar. Stir in the flour and cocoa. Press into a lined 18 x 28 cm/7 x 11 in baking tin (pan). Bake in a preheated oven at 180C/ 350F/gas mark 4 for about 20 minutes until springy to the touch.


To make the icing, sift the icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl and add a drop of boiling water. Stir until well blended, adding a drop or so more water if necessary. Ice the brownies while still warm (but not hot), then leave to cool before cutting into squares.
