Method:
Mix together the flours, baking powder
and salt. Rub in the butter or margarine until the mixture resembles
breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar. Gradually mix in the milk to make a
soft dough. Knead lightly, then roll out to about 1 cm/0.5 in thick
and cut into 5 cm/2 in rounds with a biscuit (cookie) cutter. Place
the scones (biscuits) on a greased baking (cookie) sheet and bake in a
preheated oven at 230°C/450°F/gas mark 8 for about 15 minutes until
risen and golden brown. Serve warm.
