Method:
Mix together the flour, salt,
bicarbonate of soda and cream of tartar. Rub in the butter or
margarine. Slowly add the milk and water until you have a soft dough.
Knead quickly on a floured surface until smooth, then roll out until 1
cm or 1/2 in thick and cut into 5 cm/2 in rounds with a biscuit
(cookie) cutter. Place the scones (biscuits) on a greased baking
(cookie) sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 230°C/450°F/gas mark 8
for about 10 minutes until well risen and golden brown.
