1 egg beaten
100 g/4 oz/1 cup Cheddar or strong cheese, grated
15 ml/1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Method:
Roll out the pastry (paste) to about 5
mm or 1/4 in thick and brush generously with beaten egg. Sprinkle with
the cheeses and season to taste with salt and pepper. Cut into strips
and twist the strips gently into spirals. Place on a dampened baking
(cookie) sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 220°C/425°F/gas mark 7
for about 10 minutes until puffed and golden.
